We are pleased to invite you to an open lecture “Wolves Travelling between Forests and Humans” by the distinguished artist Tomoko Konoike, to be held on Wednesday, October 29, from 12:15 to 13:45, Ülikooli 16 – Room 216.
About the speaker:
Born in 1960 in Akita Prefecture, Tomoko Konoike graduated from the Department of Painting (Japanese Painting) at Tokyo University of the Arts. Her creative journey has spanned a wide range of media, including animation, illustrated books, painting, sculpture, songs, photography, handicrafts, and fairy tales. In addition to her art practice, she has engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations, created site-specific works inspired by local climates and terrains, and persistently explored primordial questions about art.
About the lecture:
In this talk, Konoike will discuss art as the foundation of all education, offering insights into ways of perceiving the world without going through human language and considering non-human audiences through the lens of her own works. The lecture will also serve as a “prediction” the forest and hand puppet workshop that will follow in the coming days.
All are warmly welcome to attend.
