There is a growing awareness of the importance of living heritage (or intangible cultural heritage) as a contributor to sustainable development. The first part of the seminar provides an overview of how these links are understood and conceptualised today.
The global heritage discourse is changing: living heritage - knowledge and skills passed down from generation to generation - is not only seen as something that needs to be safeguarding. It's growingly pointed out that much of this knowledge can itself help and protect people in a changing world.
The second part of the seminar has a practical focus on safeguarding living heritage in the context of sustainable development. Together with the trainers, exemplary safeguaring measures are drawn up.
The coopereration between the UNESCO Chairs is cofunded by the French-Estonian science and technology cooperation programme PARROT.
