Information to the university family during the war in Ukraine

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) results were published recently, in which the field of humanities and arts is once again the highest among university fields and the entire Baltic countries.

The Von Bock House of the University of Tartu (Ülikooli 16) has undergone a major renovation, and the Institute of Cultural Research has moved back to the building.

In Arvo Pärt’s jubilee year, the lectures from his year as a University of Tartu professor of liberal arts have become accessible to an international audience, as English subtitles have been added to the recordings of the lecture series.

Next academic year, the professorship of liberal arts will be held by poet, children’s author and prosaist Viivi Luik.

The Master’s degree ceremony of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities will take place on 19 June at 13.30 in the University of Tartu assembly hall (Ülikooli 18).

From 10 to 16 February, the University of Tartu will have a thematic week for Women in Science, aiming to underline the role of women and girls in science, break gender stereotypes and encourage women to pursue a career in science. During the week, a discussion on ensuring equal opportunities is held, and the university’s gender statistics are presented. It is also possible to take a curator’s tour of the exhibition in the university’s museum and see a travelling exhibition about astronomers.
