The Department of Literature and Theater Studies is a member of the Institute of Cultural Studies of the University of Tartu. The department operates on the first floor of the University's 16 study buildings.

The libraries of the Department of Literature and Theater Studies are located in the University's 16 rooms 111 (theater studies, Estonian literature) and 112 (world literature).

The library of the Department of Literature and Theater Studies contains specialized literature for teaching and research, a small amount of fiction, and defended bachelor's, master's and doctoral theses. Books are usually rented out for two weeks. The World Literature Library contains specialist literature for teaching and research, defended bachelor's, master's and doctoral theses, and a small amount of fiction and journals.
