Everyone is invited to the first presentation of the creative research project “Artistic rediscovery of the hot metal typesetting”. The project looks at the importance of old typesetting technologies in the history of the printing arts, with a focus on the Monotype. The creative outcome of the project is a unique Monotype ABC-book in Estonian, which will be typeset and printed on the last surviving printing machines.
Project manager Danila Rygovskiy (UT/TYPA) will talk about the ongoing research, designer Merilin Metsamaa (TYPA) will present the first designs for the ABC-book, and a letterpress specialist Ian Gabb (Royal College of Art) will join to discuss the power of the Monotype to create art.
