Cultural heritage and sustainable rural tourism are at the core of the CULTURALITY project funded by Horizon Europe in 2024-2028. Fieldwork is now carried out following the guidelines developed at the University of Tartu.

In the long run the fieldwork will result in a Virtual European Rural Artisans Platform (VERA). Thus, the aim for the moment is to map and inventory intangible cultural heritage, with particular attention to craftsmanship in remote rural areas across the project regions around Europe.

In addition to fieldwork and desk research, an analysis of the relations between tradition and modernity in documented cultural practices will start shortly.

Recent consortium meeting in Ljubljana

All these activities were discussed during the consortium meeting held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on March 25-27.

The meeting was organised by the Slovenian project team based at the Institute of Slovenian Ethnology of the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

The University of Tartu was represented by Professor Kristin Kuutma and Junior Research Fellow Siarhiej Makarevich.
