Professor Kristin Kuutma represented Estonia at the meeting of the UNESCO International Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage

Kristin Kuutma, Professor of Cultural Studies, is a renown expert in the field of intangible cultural heritage both in Estonia and internationally. In December she lead the Estonian delegation to the 18th session of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. At the University of Tartu Kuutma also holds the UNESCO Chair on the Applied Studies of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

During the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee Kuutma chaired a seminar on "Learning with Living Heritage in and out of School". It was organised in cooperation with the Estonian, Namibian and eSwatini National Commissions for UNESCO.

The seminar focused on the cooperation between the three countries in the field of living heritage and education, highlighting the links with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. These experiences That have built intercontinental and cross-generational bridges open avenues for discussion with participants.

UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage brings together experts from all over the world. Professor Kuutma was the head of the Estonian delegation. He has represented Estonia at these meetings for two decades.
