Uus semester on kohe-kohe algamas, ja sellega koos mitmed põnevad loengukursused. Septembri lõpus ja oktoobri alguses kutsume kõiki huvilisi osalema kursusel "Materiaalne kultuur ja muuseum" (Material culture and the museum, HVKU.03.025 3 EAP, inglise keeles). Lektoriks on Fulbrighti õpetlane Dr Jason Baird Jackson Indiana ülikoolist. Kursus on ÕISis registreerimiseks avatud, kuid loengutele on oodatud huvilised ka ilma regisreerimata!

Lähemalt loengupidajast inglise keeles:

Dr Jackson presently serves as Professor of Folklore Studies and of Anthropology at Indiana University, where he is also Director of the Mathers Museum of World Cultures. He was the editor of Museum Anthropology (2005-2009), the journal published by the Council for Museum Anthropology (American Anthropological Association). He is the founder of Museum Anthropology Review, which he has edited since 2007. During 2012-2013, he served as Interim Editor of the Journal of Folklore Research. Dr Jackson was involved in founding the American Folklore Society’s Open Folklore project and has chaired the AFS’s Publications Committee. In 2014-2015 he participated in a Mellon Foundation-funded research project on open access book publishing in the humanities and interpretive social sciences. His work on this project shaped the launch of the open access book series Material Vernaculars, which he edits and which is co-published by the Mathers Museum of World Cultures and the Indiana University Press. His various writings on scholarly publishing issues are summarized and cited in a 2014 article with Ryan Anderson published in Cultural Anthropology titled “Anthropology and Open Access.” He previously advised Trickster Press, the student publishing initiative in folklore at Indiana University and he regularly presents or participates in student workshops on scholarly publishing.
